Suso, Que pasa, amigo? About time I got on this thing... Anyway, I got RedHat 5.2 and Applixware coming in the mail, so expect posts of problems, rants and ravings about the Linux install and Polish-made computers. I'll probably not only install it on my P2 machine, but a alpha release on the Alpha machine that has been gathering dust for the past two months or so... So, I've been reading more about alternative OS systems... whether it's due more to media attention to Linux or just my own disgust of MS bloat ware, I'm not sure. I figure putting a post here would open up the floor to additional people contributing to the discussion... Here's my thought... combining Linux and BeOS, either on the same machine, or Linux as a seperate box for file serving/system security for firewalling a connection to the internet... and having a BeOS box for high-end multimedia work, and using it also for a terminal into the Linux box. Something akin to your own multimedia workshop and secure webserver combo... What are the issues with something like this? Any potential problems? Is it better to just to go solo with one OS, or mix it up? If you do install both OSs on one machine, which one do you install first? Suso, I remember you having and installing BeOS R3... and R4 is out now. Have you (or anyone perusing this list) gotten R4? What was your satisfaction with R3's performance, and the performance of the apps for it? Is spending money on BeOS worth it? Or does Linux have enough good multimedia shareware for free, to balance the benefit of BeOS? Should I just switch back to analog and stick to paper and pen? : ) OK, I think that is enough for now... I am interested in what anyone else has to comment about this. over and out in Poland, Rob
