Some of you might remember a thought of the day I had a while ago about analyzing the winning lottery numbers to try to predict a future number. Well, this week I went to the Hoosier Lottery website and discovered that they actually have a list of all previous winning numbers. I was pretty excited and impressed by this. Maybe they are obligated to do it. Anyways, now I'm more interested in actually analyzing the numbers in an attempt to increase the chances of winning.

I'm not going to necessarily look for patterns in the whole numbers. But more of commonalities between the numbers. For instance, the randomness of the numbers would make you think that over the period of 12 years, the numbers would all appear with equal frequency. This however is not the case. And more so, you might be surprised to know that the frequency varies quite a lot. The most frequent number from 01 to 48 in the Hoosier lotter is 19, with 133 occurances out of 858 drawings. And on the other side, the least occuring number is 46 with only 70 occurances. However, those two numbers have occured in the same drawing 9 times together. Simular analysis of pairs of numbers that frequently occur together can be done to help determine the best combination of numbers.

So the question is, do you think this could work? I guess there is only one way to truely find out. ;-)
