I was wondering this morning if all these violations of copyright law that prevent us from using the Internet for what most Internet vetrans consider to be useful will lead to something good. Then I thought that if people become restricted enough to the point where they can no longer duplicate, borrow from or even create content based on other copyrighted works, maybe they will be led and inspired to create their own original content. The web has always been littered with fan pages, pirating sites, news pages and personal home pages. One thing I rarely find are sites dedicated to original content. Perhaps the laws that we find restricting our lazy online activities will ironically end up doing what they set out to do. To encourage the creation of new ideas and works. This could lead to an online Renaissance.
