WWW vs. Internet

From SusoSight

The world wide web (WWW) is a subset of the Internet and yet many think they are the same thing. In fact, the Internet was created long before the WWW was first publicly available. Although there are documents about the creation of the Internet going back to 1967, a fair way to compare them is to compare when they we first used to send a message. The first message sent between IMPs (like routers) was October 29, 1969. The WWW was first made publicly available on August 23rd, 1991. These two dates are 7,968 days apart. Meaning that the WWW was still younger than half the age of the Internet up until June 18th, 2014.
