The Future
The War of Open Source Software: 50 years from now, our children will be telling their children "Your grandfather/grandmother risked their lives so that we could have freedom to use whatever operating system and software we wanted to." But somehow I can also imagine there will be some double standard and corruption amount OSS maintainers as well. Those who try to change the software for their own political or financial gains at the peril of everyone else. As the OSS community moves into reaching our goal and supplanting proprietary software, let us not forget the mantra "power corrupts". Lest we also supplant what OSS is all about in the first place.
