It's amazing how much stuff there is in this world that never gets seen, heard, felt or acknowledged by 99% of the people living on it.
Recently I have been downloading music from the alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.* groups and have found so much music that I didn't realize was out there. I can't even find many of the artists on places like cdnow.com, which is supposed to be an encyclopedia of music. And most of the songs I've downloaded are outstanding.
I remember in the 90s hearing some high schooler with their high school mentality saying something like "All the music that is possible has been tried already. There is nowhere left to go." This kind of idea makes me sick. The people who say that only view the world through what the media shows them, they never take it upon themselves to go out and explore. Take a chance, buy a random CD that you think you might like, but have never heard of. Talk to the owner of a local music store and ask them for a recomendation. You might be surprised what you find.
