I don't know whether this goes for everyone. I've noticed that people seem to have a sub-conscious idea about where home is when they are sleeping. Often times when I was younger and my family would go on long trips out of state, I would fall asleep on the way back. Almost everytime that I fell asleep (even hundreds of miles away from home), I would almost always end up waking up when we were pulling into our driveway. And it wasn't because someone would wake me up. It was if I had a sub-conscious idea of where I was geographically. This doesn't just go for me, I've noticed it in other people over the years. Recently I've noticed that my wife does it too. Whenever she falls asleep on the way home, sometimes miles away, it doesn't matter how much I jostle the car around, she doesn't wake up until right when we pull into our driveway. She said that she notices that it happens too.
So how about you, do you notice this behavior in yourself or others?
